Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, which means the whole weekend fills up fast around Lake County. Tavares throws its BOO! Festival on Friday night, downtown Leesburg hands out candy on Main Street Saturday afternoon, and Saturday night splits between a masquerade ball at the Howey Mansion and a downtown bar crawl in Mount Dora.

Trick-or-Treat Events & Halloween Festivals
Tavares BOO! Festival
Friday, October 30, 2026 · 6–9pm
Downtown Tavares & Wooton Park
100 E. Ruby Street, Tavares
The City of Tavares turns downtown into one long trunk-or-treat for its 10th BOO! Festival, with decorated vehicles stretching across several blocks. Wooton Park adds a kids' costume contest, the Creepy Tent, Halloween games, a live DJ, and a movie in the park.
It's free, and since it's the night before Halloween, it pairs well with Leesburg's Saturday afternoon event if you want two rounds of candy.

Saturday, October 31, 2026 · 4–7pm
Main Street, Downtown Leesburg
For the third year, downtown Leesburg businesses hand out candy up and down Main Street on Halloween afternoon, with music along the way. The early start means kids can trick-or-treat downtown and still be home in time for the neighborhood porch lights.

Fear Reach Scream Park: Willow's Nightmares
Fridays & Saturdays through October 24, 2026
7–10pm (Saturdays Oct 17 & 24 until 11pm)
Far Reach Ranch, 1255 S. Dora Blvd., Tavares
The rest of the year, Far Reach Ranch is a u-pick blueberry farm on Lake Dora. In October it turns into a nonprofit scream park. This season's two haunted houses, The Discarded Laboratory and Parasomnia, follow a storyline about a girl named Willow whose nightmares have come to life.
Between houses, the midway has games, food trucks, rotating vendors, and the Pitchfork Parlor bar with live music from house band The Dismembered. Tickets run about $20 to $35. These are real scares, so check the site's age guidance before bringing younger kids.

Halloween in Mount Dora: Common Questions
What day is trick-or-treating in Mount Dora in 2026?
Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31, 2026, and that's when neighborhood trick-or-treating happens. Some organized events land earlier, like the Tavares BOO! Festival on Friday, October 30.
What time does trick-or-treating start?
There's no single official time for neighborhood trick-or-treating. Most kids head out around dusk, which is close to 7pm in late October, and wind down by 8:30 or 9pm. A porch light on is the usual signal a house is handing out candy. Organized events keep their own hours, like Leesburg's 4–7pm downtown trick-or-treat.
Are there free Halloween events in Lake County?
Yes. The Tavares BOO! Festival and Trick or Treat on Main Street in Leesburg are both free, and the Mote-Morris House haunted house in Leesburg is just $5 per person.
Are there Halloween events for adults?
Saturday night has two good options: the Halloween Masquerade Ball at The Howey Mansion ($75, advance tickets only) and Mount Dora Crawloween, a 21-and-up bar crawl through downtown. Fear Reach Scream Park in Tavares also runs a bar and live music on its midway.
